City Hall Facilities Closed to the Public

In response to COVID-19 concerns, the City of Peculiar is taking additional steps to ensure the health of our community and continuity of City services. Effective immediately, all City facilities will be closed to the public, indefinitely.
 

Peculiar Mayor Holly Stark announced today that she was authorizing the closure of all city building lobbies to the public to limit city staff and resident exposure to COVID-19, effective immediately.

 

For utility payments, residents can still pay their bill on-line, place the payments in the drop box, or use the drive up window.  In other matters, the city is still open for business and can be reached at the non-emergency numbers/emails listed at the end of this document.

Lobby access closures beginning March 18, 2020 include:

  • City events and meetings

    The closure decision is based on health professionals recommendation on social distancing of 6 feet minimum and gatherings of 10 people or less to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.  Cancellations include, but not limited to:

    • March 17th Community for All Ages Meeting at City Hall
    • March 18th, 25th and Aril 2, 2020, for the Route C (Main Street) Improvements Project meetings at City Hall
    • March 13th– April 13th All Parks and Recreation Leagues and Fitness Classes
    • March 23rd Missouri American Water Town Hall Meeting at the Lions Club
    • April 4th Peculiar Area Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt at the West Peculiar Fire Protection District

  • SUSPENDED/RESCHEDULED
  • Municipal court appearances and docket, March 23rdrescheduled to Monday, May 11, 2020

  • Water (utility) shut-offs for non-payment of utility (water, sewer and trash) bills will be suspended until April 23rd – Please note, unpaid March utility bills will still be assessed the late fee.

The City of Peculiar is taking COVID-19 very seriously and in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendations city buildings have enacted handshake-free zones, hand washing reminder signs in restrooms and disinfecting wipe down by staff of: doors, door handles and hard surfaces.

 

We encourage residents to:

  1. Practice social distancing by maintaining a range of 6-10 feet of separation
  2. Wash your hands with soap and water frequently for a minimum of 20 seconds
  3. Utilize hand sanitizer if unable to wash your hands
  4. Avoid touching your face
  5. Cover your coughs
  6. If you are sick and show signs of a fever and cough, stay at home for 14 days; isolate yourself until fever-free for up to 72 hours.

The Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services (DHSS) activated a statewide public hotline for citizens or providers needing guidance regarding the novel coronavirus, or COVID-19. The hotline opened and can be reached at (877) 435-8411.  The hotline is being operated by medical professionals and is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
